Our core beliefs and most important values
Who we are…

What we do…
NQ Eye Specialists strives to stay at the forefront of ophthalmic science and technology to provide the very best outcomes in eye care for our patients.
How we do it…
At NQ Eye Specialists, we want our patients to feel at home in our clinic. We believe in providing quality eye care and a high level of personalised customer service not often found in medicine.
Our philosophy…
At our core we strive to improve our service and grow our practice, not only in size but also in our ability to meet the needs and expectations of our patients.
Feedback from patients is very important to me and the practice. It allows us to gauge the effectiveness of the treatments we provide…
– Dr Todd Goodwin
Our approach…
We adopt a uniquely tailored approach. We’re not interested in processing as many patients as possible. Our sole aim is to give every patient the best possible vision for them – however complex or unusual their condition.
We know North Queensland and we know you

Dr Todd Goodwin
Owner & Ophthalmic Surgeon – MB BS, FRANZCO
Born and bred in North Queensland, Dr Todd Goodwin went to Ignatius Park College in Townsville. Undertaking his ophthalmology training in QLD, Todd is the first and only ophthalmologist in Australia (to date) trained at James Cook University medical school.
His formative years of medical experience were undertaken at The Townsville Hospital, Mt Isa Hospital, Weipa Hospital, Tully Hospital, Ayr Hospital and Bowen Hospital. Todd believes strongly in providing quality eye care for all and has made voluntary contributions to third-world ophthalmology services in Myanmar. Todd is also committed to the improvement of vision locally and helps with the rural outreach ophthalmic service to Longreach, Palm Island and Cape York.
Todd undertook specialised training in medical retina, oculoplastics and paediatric ophthalmology during his fellowship.
Todd and his wife are both from Townsville. Together they made the decision to return home so their kids, Lucas and Addison, could be closer to their extended family and enjoy the same upbringing that they were privileged to have.
